New News! Clients please read to be updated on exciting changes in salons! OH AND FREE PRODUCT
I am extremely excited to write this weeks blog post. I have decided to make a change in my working life. As of Tuesday July 9th, I am going to be working at Ultra Image Salon in Hendersonville! Some of you who have been with me for my entire career will know this as the very first place I worked. I started there right out of school and the girls there were generous enough to squeeze me into the space temporarily until I had a more definite idea of what part of town I wanted to be in. I have known these ladies my entire life and they really are more like family to me. They have completely redecorated the salon and I cannot tell you how beautiful it is. A station opened up and I have decided that it will be my new home, well really my new old home, going back to my roots. Every decision I have made in my career is for me to be able to serve you, the client, better. This new station is extremely roomy and comfortable, there is so much opportunity to learn, my schedule is more flexible, and I have the ability to sell you the products that I love and keep my stock of products up to date on what is new and current.
I want to thank the owners and ladies of EnVme Hair Studio. I have so enjoyed my year working there and have made some wonderful friends that I will keep in touch with for a long time. Even though God has led me in a different direction it in no way is a reflection of the time I have spent at EnVme. I wish them the best in everything they do.
All appts already scheduled for July 9th and forward are still valid so please do not hesitate to call or facebook if you need to cancel and reschedule because of the location change and I apologize for any inconvenience. I am still booking from my cell phone and facebook. My hours are going to be basically the same until Marcus and I can move back over to that area at the end of this year, however I do have more flexibility so if those hours don't work with your schedule please let me know and I will accommodate as best as I can!
As a celebration for my new digs, I am offering every client that comes to me for the first 2 weeks at Ultra Image a FREE travel size product with any service. Men's Shampoo, Kenra Hairspray, Uplifting Foam, and Hydrocream Whip. This is a great opportunity to try a product you have been curious about without purchasing the big bottles. This is a thank you for your incredible loyalty and support through my career. You all keep me employed and I never ever forget that. Please text or personal message me for an appt and the exact address! So Much Love! KJS

BB Cream......worth the hype???
My thoughts on the BB Cream Phase a few months ago was negative. I am a person who likes a full coverage foundation and I thought that the BB Cream may not be enough for my liking. I work all day standing and sometimes fight the heat of the blow dryer and flat irons in the salon...Basically I need my foundation to last me!! Every time I run out of foundation I get a new brand, as a makeup artist I feel as though it is my job to know as much as I can about as many products as I can. I have tried Chanel, Nars, Laura Mercier, Bare Minerals and many others. All full coverage strong foundations. After hearing another friend say they LOVED this BB Cream they got I figured I better jump on board before I am left behind.
While waiting to meet my cousin for mexican food....I am early everywhere I go....I researched the top 10 BB Creams and found that the one with the best reviews was Dior's. Me being typical me, I chose one of the most expensive ones. So soon after I made my trip home...to Green Hills Mall.... my favorite place in the world. I walked through the gates of makeup heaven into Sephora and walked to the Dior section to find that lots of other people liked this BB Cream...because it was out of stock. My bank account was protected. So after going around and sampling lots of different kinds I settled on Two Faced Beauty Balm.... and saved my bank account about $25....which I love
BB Cream is a mixture of foundation, sunscreen, primer, and moisturizer all in one. I can tell you that for the summer time I absolutely love it. It is sheer enough that it shows my summery freckles but provides enough coverage that my face does not feel naked. I apply mine with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush and apply concealer under my eyes and on any spots that need the extra good stuff.
I also got a tanner shade than my face is and I apply it with my hands to my neck because my chest and arms actually got a little color! And by a little I mean I am no longer glow in the dark.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to try the BB Cream Mayhem. My skin feels amazing and is protected by the hot Tennessee sun this summer all the time. It is low maintenance and will last me all summer because a tiny bit goes a long way. Feel free to ask any questions that you have about BB Cream or Makeup in general!
Happy Sunday!

20% off all products this week! Sumer Updates!
Hello beauty blog readers!
I am going to begin to post these blogs regularly again. I tried the youtube makeup videos and although they were very fun, the time commitment required was way more than I could handle. This is much more realistic.
EnVme has been officially opened for one year as of this week! I feel so blessed to be a part of such a great group in a fabulous salon with amazing owners! To celebrate, we will have ALL of our products for 20% off! Tonight I am going to go through my personal favorites and explain their purpose and they client who needs them. Please stop by any day this week and pick up the product that suits you!
We will start with Schwarzkopf Color Save Shampoo and Conditioner!
This shampoo and conditioner is ideal for my color clients. I use Schwarzkopf Color, therefore this is going to be the best option to keep your color lasting longer and staying fresh. Stick with the same line for ideal color results. Coloring your hair is an investment! You are going to spend between $50-$80 getting your hair colored so invest in a good quality shampoo and conditioner to make it last!
Next Schwarzkopf Q-10 Shampoo and Conditioner!
This shampoo and conditioner is for the client with "matured" hair. Q-10 is in everyone's hair and is lost over time, color treatments, and general damage to the hair. This will make hair thicker, shinier, healthier, and younger. I have seen amazing results with my clients who use this shampoo and conditioner!
Moving on to Paul Mitchell Platinum Shampoo!!
For my blonde ladies! Purple shampoo keeps the yellow out of your hair. Keeps blonde from going gold and brassy. I love this shampoo not only for that reason, but it also helps your hair feel amazing, healthy, shiny, and smooth. You can mix this shampoo with your everyday shampoo or just use it once a week to maintain beautiful blondeness.
Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner!!
Great for my guys this shampoo and conditioner has a minty smell and leaves the scalp feeling tingly to wake you up in the morning! Also great for clients with dry scalp as well. Be careful as this product is not color safe!
ONTO STYLING PRODUCTS!
ITS A 10!
This photo says it all!!! if you have not heard of Its a 10 yet, you have been extremely hair sheltered :-) This is an all in one product that does everything! We carry the regular, lite, and keratin. We also have the volumizing products!
Aquage Uplifting Foam
Our ALLTIME favorite and best selling root lifter! Excellent lift for those looking for a nice bump at the crown!
Paul Mitchell Hydrocream Whip
My personal best selling product! This is for the client with fine to medium hair. This product can be used to shape curls while removing frizz as well giving body to clients who like to have hold as well. Perfect product for beach summer waves!
Aquage Finishing Spray
A great medium hold hair spray that smells delicious! Who doesn't use hairspray?? Get a great one!
Joico Color Therapy Serum
A serum that keeps color fresh and shiny. This product also smoothes frizz and can be applied to wet and dry hair. Unlike most serums it is not greasy nor does it weigh down the hair.
Paul Mitchell Spray Wax
This product sprays into the hair after it is dry. Gives a "messy" look for clients with textured hair cuts. This is for that girl who doesn't want her hair too smooth or fixed. I prefer spray wax to messy waxes you have to put in your hands. The spray is much more convenient.
Joico Joigel
Great product for my guys! Gives spikey hair great hold and will keep your style all day without wearing out.
PLEASE feel free to ask any questions you may have and hope this was a helpful post!!

Pinterest Finale!
So I have 3 more Pinterest girls to show off! The first one is Mrs. Elizabeth Skaggs. She did a version of the rounded bob picture we showed. Becuase of her previous cut, we decided to stack the back a little more than the original picture until her layers get a little more growth on them. A roundbrush is key to this look and we were both thrilled with the final look. She is a mommy to be and this is going to be a great cut for her new lifestyle. We also touched up her highlights for a fresh blonde summer color. These pictures are from her and Stu's maternity session with Bella Amour Photography!
Miss Lauren Dickens also decided to send a pinterest photo of the always lovely Lauren Conrad. This is the ombre technique and has more of that look than the picture I chose for the first week. This was quite different for Lauren as we usually just do a full foil so I was so proud of her for stepping out of her box! We did her root color slightly lighter than Lauren Conrads because we got nervous about the ombre looking beautiful in Hollywood and like roots in Gallatin. Natural is key. Beautiful!
My next victim was Stacey Bates. Stacey has not had her hair colored in 7 years. The dream client. She has a very natural medium brown color. This is so common in clients and I beg them to deepen and make their brown hair rich and shiny. You do not have to change the color of your hair to have hair color. Get rid of the mousey brown by deepening it. We went about a shade and a half darker and shined it up and she left with a greater confidence in how her hair looked an felt. Selena Gomez was our inspiration for this look! Original ispiration photo, before, and after
My last client I would like to share is one of my prom girls, Alyson Poland with a Hunger Games imspired look. Gorgeous braid headband and twists on the side made this one of my absolute favorite prom looks. We did a dark dramatic eye with a neutral mauve lip. Absolutely flawless!

2nd Lauren Conrad Color and Kelly Clarkson Colors
This week I did the 2nd version of the Lauren Conrad color. This is a shorter version and proves that the more mature generation can still rock a hip and current color. Thank you so much Vicki LouAllen for modeling for me and I hope you enjoy your new honey blonde! Here are two before photos....
As you can see she does have a clear root line that is quite a bit darker than what we were going for. When a client is this dark and wanting to go lighter, you have to be careful because it pulls very red. We used less warmth in her formula than we did on Lucy Allen and still came up with a very golden root. After toning with pure violet we came up with the perfect honey tone. Don't be afraid to go warm with blonde, I do think it can look more natural then ashy tones. So ladies over 40... do not be afraid to bring in a photo of a 20 something year old celebrity because hair is just hair and can be customized to fit any age, lifestyle, or hair type. You go Vicki!
The next color I did was this Kelly Clarkson photo......
What I love about this color is that it has very very subtle dimension. You do not have to have clear highlight lines to change up your color. Deepening the tone of your brunette and adding slight highlights that are about 3 levels lighter than that color. I used two lovely ladies for this color meet best friends Ashley Hall and Emily Davis before pictures...
I ended up taking Emily's color slightly lighter and adding LOTS of shine and a few highlights on the underneath and a few through the top. They are very subtle. We darkened Ashley's one level and added some ashy toned highlights. The highlights are hard to see in the photos, but that was the goal, you want to see the different tones in the way they move. This is a great option for clients who want a change, but are fearful of dramatic change. Work it girls!

Lauren Conrad Color
I was so excited to do this color! Lauren Conrad is a great designer and always has the most gorgeous California blonde hair. I loved this color because a lot of blondes are fearful of a warm blonde and I always think it is beautiful when it has a honey gold undertone. I also like this color because it is "lit from within". The highlights are mostly underneath on the sides and in the very front, not so much in the part. This is really great for growing out because the highlights are growing out where they can't be seen. The reason this color looks so natural is because the root color is about half a shade darker than the ends, this is the ombré done natural. Here is Lucy Allen,s before picture.....
After the root color and highlights and lowlights were processed and done put Hydrocream Whip for volume and we curled her hair parted down the middle with a large curling iron wrapping each section around the iron. I touched up her makeup with Mac Shadows Nylon and All That Glitters as well as Tigi Navy shadow. I used Bobbie Brown Gel Liner. I think it looks so similiar to the original Lauren Conrad picture and I am so proud!!

A beautiful bride, a gospel group, and Boys Weekend!
Another week has come and gone and I got to see some beautiful wedding photos from Mrs. Melissa Scrushy Watson. Melissa had seen a photo on my website of a half up half down style that she just had to have. She had lots of hair so I knew it would turn out beautiful. Her makeup was simple, yet classy putting lots of emphasis on her eyes. She was a completely laid back bride just excited for her day and that made her an absolute pleasure to work with. She looks so happy in all her pictures and I can't wait to share them all with you!
I also did a photoshoot a couple weeks ago with Jarrett Gaza, and his assistant Stephanie Hines for a gospel quartet called Gold City. These guys were total troopers sporting these suits in the August mid day heat! They still look wonderful and Jarrett's work always brings out the best of people. It was a fun day full of laughs!
Boys weekend is coming up the last weekend of September! $12 haircuts to launch the new Paul Mitchell line made just for guys! I have already been using it a little here and there and have been in love with the results! One of the main goal of these awesome specials is to bring in new people so tell all your friends!
